The Local Area
The City of Exeter was founded by the Romans almost 2000 years ago, making it one of the oldest cities in England. By the year 200 AD, a massive wall was built to protect and defend the city, although repaired and rebuilt much of it can be seen today.

The Cathedral of St Peter completed in its present form by the end of the 14th century is an experience not to be missed. Its unique twin towers dominate the skyline and the Gothic vaulted ceiling is the longest in the world. Exeter is one of the few cities to have free guided tours, these allow you to experience the detail and history of this beautiful city.
